My Bug On My PC Is At It Again

I am so frustrated right now. My browser(Chrome) is not working today. I could get so much done if only I didn't have to wait for the 'freeze up' to pass every other response I try to make. Ugh! One day it works fine and the next it is horrible. Yes, I have cleared my cache. The reason for this is that my computer is infected and I can't afford to have a tech get rid of it. The last tech told me that that this infection is sneaky. It comes on my computer and looks like a regular file so when my antivirus does a sweep it doesn't pick this up cause it looks like an average file or other part of my PC. I don't know when it started or when the infection took place so I can't do a restore either. So I suffer.
I've had my Dell for about two years. It's laptop and is a great computer. It's just that the infections get in my way. I can't make any changes to my PC so I can't do updates to the browser and such. I hope to have this thing another couple of years.
How is your PC working? How long have you had yours?

@celticeagle As a last resort you could always reset the computer to Factory Default, which is the status in which you first received it.
This would require you to save all documents, photographs or other files that you wish to keep onto an external device. You would also need to reinstall any programs that you added since the computer arrived, but you would have a clean system.
If you decide to do this then I would suggest setting the computer to how you want it and then creating a full backup. You could then always revert to that backup if any further complications develop.

I certainly wish I was in that same situation.

No, I like Chrome. I sometimes go to ME or even IE but come back to Chrome.

lol I have an expensive new desk top called Lenovo and it had better stay working. Its
just two months old. Can you take to a repair shop and get it repaired they can get rid of the
of the virus for you. If we lived closer my son could do it for you and would not charge you lol

Sure, I could. But, that costs money and I don't have transportation. Your son sounds like a dear person.

I think that if I could keep infections out I could keep mine a lot longer.
