Mylotters, here's an update from my edit cave so far as we're approaching the last weeks of summer. As for Venom, no luck with Pitch Wars at all this month. None of my 4 main mentors and 2 bonus mentors I won 3 weeks ago, had requested my manuscript. (Last year, I got one out of my five picks.) My only hope is to win the scavenger hunt this week and be the only A/NA winner of that category. Otherwise, I'm OUT for this year. Also, one of my dream agents who had given me a third and final R&R had passed on it yesterday--though she liked the changes I've made, she's not able to connect to my main character and story. (One of the agents who passed on the full last month had no problem with connecting.) So I'm down to 2 fulls and 1 partial at the moment. I recently closed one partial last week, since I got no response from both of my two nudges. (If I do get a late response to make it official, I'll update it.) Next month, I'll be entering Venom into Pitmad and Pitch Slam for one last chance, before I retire it from contests entirely.
At least, Chain Reaction has one pending partial I have yet to hear from. In the meantime, though my beta had told me to set Venom aside and try another project with edits, I'm working at a few at a time. I did get new betas via Pitch Wars to help me with edits this fall.
Update: that agent passed on CR's partial this afternoon with the not best agent for it for her rejection. So that's out!
As for Diplomatic Immunity, I'm 4 K away to reach my goal of 110K with my 2nd pass revision and 6.5 chapters left to go. I've taken things out and rewritten some parts in to make it better. When I do my mini 3rd pass revision next week, I just have to smooth out those wrinkles in my plot holes from chapter one to the rest of the story with one final change. It has to do with logistics from one Twitter friend to make it gel. I hope to send it to my betas in September and get it ready for October's queries and next contest, since I won't get it done in time for Pitmad and Pitch Slam in two weeks. I can try.
As for Upwork, I've made close to $100 so far with seven jobs since last month. I did two ghostwriting book blog reviews for somebody back to back and got $10 each for. The first book was pretty good, the second book not so good. Though it was work for hire, I thought it would be much longer until it ended last weekend. I also did a 2nd article for fall prevention at night for seniors last week and got paid $7 for. I also did my colon cleanse review and a mini task at Amazon for the product to get $5 Via Paypal and not via Upwork. My success score is at 93% with five star feedback from all seven clients, except from the my first and 6th client with no additional comments. I have lost 7 proposals so far out of 15, while the rest are pending. My status is unavailable at this rate to do this job well.
This past weekend, I had gotten an invite to do my first hourly contracted assignment for 1-3 months to write product descriptions for a party supply store out in Utah for 40 hour weeks. This week I watched training videos and 4 podcasts (with subtitles, since I have no volume) and took quizzes. I have one final quiz to take today before I do a test batch, until I get hired on. So I'll be on and off here between training to get my full 5 hours in, plus weekends.
So we'll see how this goes for #8 for this fall. That's about it for now.

Nope. I did struck out with the scavenger hunt win, since it was done at random. Yep. Thanks!
