Two reasons I’m interested in Patrick Henry? First of all, he might be an ancestor of my husband, since the last name is the same. Who knows? I’m working on some ancestry presently.
Secondly, Patrick Henry was the first governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, which is where I presently live. (1776 – 1779)
Patrick Henry gave his famous speech in which he spoke the famous words “Give me liberty, or give me death” in a church that still stands in Richmond, Virginia on what is known as Church Hill. It is quite a popular place for tourists to visit.
Have you ever visited this famous church?

You know the state Motto for Virginia, don't you? It's "Virginia is for Lovers" What that means is that whatever you love, you will find it in Virginia.
Beaches, Mountains, Lakes, Rivers, State Parks, History, Civil War Battlefields, Amusement Parks, Home of 8 presidents, Snow skiing, riding the rapids, kayaking, breathtaking scenery, friendly people, etc.etc.

I have and I have also visited his two homes, both in Virginia, Scotchtown and Red Hill. Fascinating man who had a much bigger role in independence than just his speech.

Yes, he was very instrumental in many ways concerning independence. I've read a lot about him too. Fascinating indeed.

It will be interesting to see if he's your husband's ancestor, won't it? I have not sent in my DNA or traced my roots or anything like that. Some of the family tree is missing due to adoption, but I may try one of these days. My sister had started doing our geneology years ago. . .before the internet. .. so I need to check with her and see how far she got. I could then go on the websites with a head start. Good luck on your search!

Yes, now that we have the Internet, searching our ancestry is much easier. I hope to find out some information soon.
