It's both Autumn and Fall, but not yet. When it really gets going, it's literally Fall in New England. Everything is falling - leaves, temperatures, etc.

Hmmm... I can see the logic in the use of "Fall" in that context, and Spring is when leaves spring onto the trees, the temperatures start to spring up, and the flowers too... Ok, I'll concede that point.

Cute but too early for autumn yet! I would like at least another month before it sets in!

Nice poem. It's not yet autumn, but the air is changing. The days are shorter, the nights are cooler.

This statement doesn't really apply for me. I'm retired and myLot whenever I like.

I admit that I do refer to it as Fall but like @BelleStarr I think of it as Autumn.

@MALUSE I mainly use the word Fall but if someone refers to it as Autumn, then I will refer to it that way too since it means the same thing.

@simone10 Several members have answered like this. I find it strange to use two different words for the same thing. How do you decide when to say what?

I might give it a try too - so its indoors for you all in the North now that the summer is about to leave - but I am sure you will enjoy the last of the sunshine days.

Oh, we call it autumn, too, but we do say fall more often. Whatever you call it, it's my favorite season!

Cute little lyric. I call it fall or autumn depending on the situation.

I am always in a bad mood and low energised when it is dark and rains! So I don't really like Autumn...

Darkness and rain belong to the month of November, not early September. The beginning of autumn is pretty in Europe and often very sunny.

Hello there. I think I might have a go at this poetry gig. Never really got into poetry before although I am a Bob Dylan fan and I believe he is one of the greatest poets ever or at least in modern Times. I don't think of Fall as a season either - more a possible mishap whilst out on my motorbike - at this time of year most likely caused by wet leaves fallen from trees and not swept away by our overstretched roads department of the council. Aye. The days are shorter and writing here on Mylot might be a good thing for me to do. Having said that I like riding my bike in the dark and in the winter. Roads are quiet and peacful and it's really quite liberating. Like tonight. Out on bike with my wife. Stop at MacDonalds. Coffee. Post on here.

True, roads are quieter in autumn and winter. But they're also slippery and dangerous.

@MALUSE The dangers presented in Autumn are probably more dangerous than in Winter. I think that's reflected in the number of bikers killed here in the Fall. Bikers know about Ice and snow but seem blissfully unaware that the next corner may be covered in wet leaves. I worked in Motorcycle training school and we did our best to educate - all to often the rider's we were educating didn't really pay heed. The number of newly qualified riders coming to grief would back that up

Love your poem! We call it autumn here too. But, we're enjoying Spring right now here at the bottom of the world.

I'm also not really the right person for this. Sometimes I surprise myseIf. :-) I can't even read on order and could therefore never join a book club in which one is told what to read and in which time.
