Camping Trip--Day 2

This was our only full day of the camping trip.
The guys (hubby and friend) got up some time before I did in the morning. They started a fire in the pit, brewed some coffee, and chit chatted until I got up.
Once I was up we just had bowls of Cheerios for breakfast.
After breakfast hubby and I walked across the bridge shown in my picture to take the nature walk. DaKota went off fishing. That bridge, or any like it scare me. I thought I was never getting to the other side both going over or coming back.
I stopped to share lots of pictures on the walk on the rabadaba app.
Once back hubby took off to fish too. I was getting hot so went to change out of my jeans and tennis shoes into my shorts and sandals. I seen something black on my leg. It didn't come right off. Youch! It was a tick. I got to looking, and my legs were covered with tiny ticks too. Ugh!
Once the guys got back hubby checked himself and sure enough, he was covered too.
In the meantime, my son messaged that he would like us to pick him up to come for the last night. Hubby took off to do that. While he was gone I got out my yo-yo's to sew.
Once they returned it was lunch time. Lunch was bologna and turkey sandwiches, chips, pepper jack cheese, bananas, and more of the cucumbers, carrots, and watermelon.
After lunch the guys all went fishing. I kept sewing on my yo-yo's (and chatting with @GardenGerty on messenger. I got over 20 made and I feel good about that, and enjoyed myself just being able to sit and sew.
Supper was grilled burgers, potato salad, and getting out the cucumbers, carrots, and watermelon once again.
We basically just sat around chatting the rest of the evening, including starting another fire in the fire pit. Hubby and I played games on our tablets after dark. My son messaged people using hubby's phone. DaKota just hung out.
No rain at all on the second day, but it looked like it would several times during the day.
Hubby just got home from the store now with Aveeno Oatmeal bath that is to help with the itching from the massive tick bites we have as well as itch cream too. I sure hope it helps as this itching is maddening!

I was concerned about the Lyme's disease too, but I think that may be from when they burrow underneath the skin? You may want to get the two of you checked out when you return home again just to be on the safe side, unless it's a different type of tick.

In this area, people get lyme disease. Kinda scary to have all the ticks on you wasn't it? I hope everyone is all right. Other than that, it sounds like you had a good time. Those bridges make me nervous too!

People here get Lyme disease as well, however it sounds like they got them off pretty quick. My granny would have made us bathe in bleach water.

Ugh! Ticks. Are you nervous about limes or......?? I get the feeling that the carrots, cucumber and watermelon didn't go over well.

My daughter brought a larger watermelon. We ate slices and she left us some, and still had half of it to take back home.
Carrots and cucumber, I don't eat. If we had brought foil my son would have wrapped the carrots in it and cooked them on the hot coals.
We all suffer from bad teeth so raw carrots are pretty much out even though we do like them. I chose those knowing my daughters family would be there and her kids like them.

@marsha32 .....I cook my carrots in orange spice tea. It is delicious. They are good for the eyes. My daughter let the cucumbers set in apple cider vinegar awhile and they are tasty. The watermelon isn't any good anymore so we probably won't have any more this season.

I hope you were able to remove all the ticks. It's good that you looked to see what it was and that it didn't stay and make it's home there on your skin. The place you are camping at must be near towers? I've never heard of camping and being able to be on the internet too.

Funny.... @GardenGerty asked how I was online too. I really wasn't. I was using my mobile data on my phone to chat with her.
So many places do offer wifi nowadays, but not where we were. It's a good thing too as instead of sewing I would have been surfing on my tablet.

@marsha32 I know that mobile data plans get people online when they aren't near wifi, but around here in Michigan camping sites aren't usually near enough to towers which bring in the signal strength to be online or using cell phones. Unless the camping sites are nearer to decent cities that is.

Yep, I sure would have rushed myself to the doctor! I think we are past the days to show symptoms according to what I find to read online, but still on the lookout as we just had a good church friend who ended up in the hospital due to a tick bite.

I had some ticks that were a bit larger that were inbedded in. I know you are to do something like light a match, blow it out and stick the hot end on the tick real fast to get it to let loose. We had no matches. I sure know to make sure we do pack those from now on.
I am a bit worried that I didn't get all of some of the larger ones out. Some of them were crawling after I pulled them out so I'm sure I got those all the way out.
The guys only caught small fish, not big enough by the fishing regulations to keep.
