Happy Spring Day!

“The earth laughs in flowers.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson Well to us in the Southern Hemisphere its 1st September and officially celebrated as Spring Day. Everyone dresses for the occasion so Bank managers are in Floral Shirts and Doctors have their hula skirts. Its a Happy day indeed. There is a slight cool breeze but the weather promises to reach a warm 29*C today and I am quite relieved that I wont be playing bowls, its gotten too hot too quickly for my liking. I remember the first Spring Day my hubby and I celebrated a year before we got married . . . he was in the Military and early that morning before his duty started, there was a knock on my apartment's door. He stood there with a grin from ear to ear and a HUGE bunch of Ranunculus and Roses.(He was obviously in love) I couldnt believe my eyes and asked him where he got such a large variety of colours and huge bunch so early in the morning . . . to which he replied "along the way from the barracks there are many beautiful gardens just waiting to be plucked and share their spring feeling with you" He had taken the liberty of picking all the neighbouhood flowers along the way and bunched them up for me! Well who said romance was dead . . . even if it comes in the form of a flower thief!! I love to remember that day, probably his most romantic gesture ever. Have a wonderful day wherever you are. Keep it real “I must have flowers, always, and always.” ~ Claude Monet

@Inlemay Have you read Men are From Mars, etc? Vin used to bring me flowers or sometimes a block of chocolate. Then he read the above book which says women are just as pleased with small gifts as big ones and the chocolate block was reduced to a chocolate frog (which is a very small chocolate in the shape of a frog).
