The big one didn't get away

Since the humidity is low and there was a nice breeze I decided it was time to fish a little. You have to remember I don't touch the worm or the fish....I just don't. So my husband and I went out to the pond, he baited my hook and I tossed it in and within a few seconds I had a hit - a big hit. I started bringing him in and it was a big one - a big cat fish. He was two feet long and over three pounds. I made my husband hold him while I ran inside to get my camera. He is back in the pond probably telling the other fish about his experience. Photo if mine for sure.

@AbbyGreenhill I don't touch them either - the worm or the fish. I'll glad you threw him back, now he has a human story to tell all his fish buddies. He's a beauty.

If he had swallowed the hook like his buddy did a few months ago he would have been in the freezer by now...but since he was ok,back in he went.

Ruby isn't allowed by the pond, but she was by the pool (fenced) and she watches everything we do back there.

I can just imagine the conversation that he is having, "I caught this human, but let it go shortly afterwards".

I thought you would have kept the fish to eat. I suppose that the fish had no damages so you released it.

@AbbyGreenhill LOL, you are like me, I was unable to eat the chickens and hens that my grandmother killed, if I had seen them when they were chicks.

@LadyDuck If it was a pond belong to someone else I might eat it. But not ones we paid for LOL. We bought them to catch and release. The photo is the day we bought them two years ago.

@jaboUK I actually like farm raised catfish. I have been eating it since we moved south. I saute it - it's not bad at all and I'm not a fish eater by any means.

Aren't you clever? That fish will dine out on his story for ages - if any of the others believe him.

The might think they are just 'human' stories (instead of fish tales).

I like the idea of him telling the others about his experience and how mum(if she`S still around)is reminding him what she always said *stay safe* Today washis lucky day, next time he might not be as lucky or if l had caught him,he`d not have been as lucky.

If he had swallowed the hook and my husband couldn't get it out w/o hurting him, then he would have been in the freezer.
