I was curious about Mount Rushmore because we were talking about it so I did some research
and found this information out:
In 1923 historian Diane Robinson had an idea of a large sculpture to promote the events of tourism in South Dakota. A 1,287.45 acre spot was picked out in Pemmington county, South Dakota in the Black Hills, where a Danish American sculpter Guitzon Borglum and four hundred worker produced a mostly granite monument.
The sculpture was built of the facial recognitions of these four presidents, George Washington (1732 -1799), Thomas Jefferson (1743 - 1826) , Theodore Roosevelt (1858 - 1919) and Abraham Lincoln (1809- 1865). The name 'rushmore ' is Lakota-Sioux meaning Six Grandfathers.
I have never been there. Have you ?
