For those of you who are meat eaters - check out the rib eye. For those of you who aren't interested, that' fine. This is one of the steaks we bought at the nice butcher shop last week. This rib eye was about an inch thick, maybe bigger. It was the best rib eye I've ever had and I think part of that is due to my husband's 'expertise' in front of the grill. (How's that for racking up brownie points.) An hour after we ate the back porch still smelled like rib eye - it was wonderful. Photo is mine

@1creekgirl We have a Pig-Wig 8 miles from us, worst meat we've ever had - won't buy it again. Decided to try it once right after we moved here and it went in the trash. There is very little we buy there, maybe soda or name brand things, but their meats and veggies are a huge turn-off. We go to Ingles normally, but Publix once every few months. The bigger Ingles has meat and often it's not too bad, but once in a while get something tough.

@AbbyGreenhill The closest thing we have to a butcher shop is Piggley Wiggley. But they do have the best meat and poultry around here. Sounds like your butcher shop might be worth the drive.

Nice piece of meat. I haven't had a good steak in years. I think the best I ever had was in Dallas, Texas. It was at the Four Brothers Steak House. You picked out your own and they cooked it over an open grill. So delicious.

@AbbyGreenhill .....It was years ago. Back in the early 70's. Only time I remember every having a good steak besides the one I had corn fed beef at the home of an old boyfriend's parents.

This piece was 'made' for rare and I was surprised how good it was rare. I'm usually a med-well person.

That depends on how long you cooked it. Anything over medium-rare is shoe leather.

It also depends on how good the beef is. We have had filet mig. cooked almost well done that was as tender as ice cream.

OH man, it looks delicious! Tender? How was it cooked, did it get marined? I so love a good steak!
• United States
5 Sep 16
Extremely tender - no seasonings at all, no marinade, he did leave a portion of the fat on to give flavor. Fork tender. It was still bleeding in the middle.
