what's the point?

I was soaking in the bath the other night when the profoundest thought niggled its way into my head. What's the point? whispered Thought. Indeed Thought, what is the point? This actually isn't very profound. It's something that niggles at me a lot and so the question suddenly popping into my mind wasn't a particular surprise. It usually concerns the point of Life. We're born, the culmination of a mishmash of genes and survivalist sperm, we do stuff, wrinkles appear and then we die. If we're unlucky there may not be much stuff to do and the wrinkles may never see the light of day. Our destiny is worm food or ash. Or to be in a museum display about folk from thousands of years ago. From the moment we're born we're aging, and if we're aging all we're really doing is decaying. We're thrust out of the safety of our mother's belly and our only absolute is Death and the journey towards it. No matter who we are, where we're from or what our status is ... this is the one absolute we have in common. We are more similar than we think. When I began this post it was going to be about work. Instead it turned into something else. Words have a mind of their own sometimes, so desperate is their desire to be heard that they just tumble out, and the weak Words that were defeated will have to be spoken another day. Really, what is the point?

I have asked myself this question too once in a while. I think it's about our journey the path we take in life and to grow and experience to being better individuals mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The end part is inevitable. It's just how life is.

But for whose benefit are we doing it? Why do some people have better lives than others? Why do bad things happen to good people?

I think the problem is often in trying to find meaning to life and stuff. Some see glass full, some see glass empty.. and my type of people just drink the water and move on. because at the end that's what matters.

The glass is neither empty nor full. The glass is merely an illusion. :)

Actually, as long as you're growing you're not decaying - that all comes after you reach your peak. It's a little unfair that we reach our peak freshness before we have any idea what life is all about and the important stuff starts to occur to us.

Interesting question! Could the point of life be life? Don't most living things want to live?

@Poppylicious Somehow we are alive, we exist, we have potential, we love life and its potential. Are there not things that make us happy to be alive?

@1hopefulman Yes, of course. But we're born, we're happy/sad, we die. What is the end game?

It's just a rainbow and rainbows depart so quickly.
