Inspired by @FourWalls' favorite TV characters series, I'm doing the same, but I'm sticking to comedies. Hence, my Favorite Sitcom Characters series. #9 belongs to secret agent Maxwell Smart.
Played by three-time Emmy Award winner Don Adams, Maxwell Smart, Agent 86, is a bumbling secret agent employed by a secret organization called CONTROL, fighting a criminal organization known as KAOS.
Max bumbles through his missions, succeeding thanks to his competent partner, Agent 99 (Barbara Feldon.)
Created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, Get Smart ran for 4 1/2 years, 138 episodes (thanks, Wikipedia!)
It was always fun watching Max idiot his way through a mission, as well as dealing with his Chief (Edward Platt.) Max used several catch phrases over the years ("Sorry about that, Chief" is just one of many.) Max's ineptness was laugh outloud funny, something to look forward to each night (syndication.)
Frankly, Adams was hilarious. If, by chance, you've never seen the show, you're missing out.
I love Get Smart, and wish to be exactly like Maxwell Smart! RIP Don Adams and Edward Platt.

I quote him every time I barely miss a putt...."Missed it by that much!"
I first thought Toto's "99" was about Barbara Feldon. 
BTW, for trivia buffs, Don Adams was the voice of Tennessee Tuxedo.

We recently checked out the whole series on DVD from the library. We had a Get Smart marathon.
