Being bombarded with post comments notification emails from Niume

On HubPages when we leave a comment on someone else's article we do not get notified each time someone else leaves a comment on that article unless we check the box next to the phrase "Follow this article's comments." On a site like Niume when we leave a comment on someone else's post we always get notified when someone else leaves a comment on it. That means every time someone comments we get an email and if the post is popular it's email after email telling us a new comment was made. This is very annoying and frustrating. And there doesn't seem to be any settings in our accounts that would allow us to opt out of this type of notification. And clicking Unsubscribe in the notification emails doesn't give us an option to stop receiving these emails. It should be our choice whether we want to be emailed these notifications or not. We should not be bombarded with them and there should be a way to opt out. That is one major thing I do not like about this site and why I stay away from commenting on other people's posts... I do not want to be bombarded with emails. At the same time by not commenting on others' posts I am limiting myself from getting myself out there and known by other writers of the site that do not know of my existence on the site.
