So, What Do You Think?

I am going to be 65 in November. I have arthritis in one hip and sometimes finger joints hurt. I am over weight but did lose 23 pounds this last year without putting forth any effort. I believe in moderation in all things but, do enjoy junk food and don't eat very healthy. I was diagnosed in the early 2000's with severe depression with panic attacks, have had derpression in some form ever since I was a teen. Back in 1980 I had a hysterectomy due to tumors on my ovaries. Had my galbladder out in the early 90's. Seems like about every ten years I am up for something. Oh, and I have cancer on both sides of the family and, I think my paternal grandmother may have had Alzheimer's. She didn't know me when I went to visit her when I was less than 10. Both paternal granparents died rather early where my maternal ones lived to be in their late 80's. My maternal great grandmother lived to be about 94. Have social anxiety and so I don't go out. Have bad teeth because I was never taught to take care of them when I was young. Have lost all but about 12 of them now. Have an appointment in October to have them examined and see about dentures. I am on three medications right now. First is Mirtazapine which is a generic brand/form of Remeron and is a antidepressant which helps with my anxiety. I have been on it since the early 2000's or sooner and take a 45 mg. tablet which is the highest amount. I had a DNA testing done to see if there were other antidepressants that might help me. I have taken everything on the market over the years. Nothing helps or I have to quit because of sensitivity to side effects. I have heard of two new depression techniques but my Medicare doesn't pay for such things. One which is pretty severe and wouldn't want to have it done. Then I take a 75 mg. tablet of Levothyroxine Sodium which I started taking in 2015 for thyroid deficiency. I started taking Pravastatin in 2016 to help lower my cholesterol. I think that for my age(64) and the amount of crap that I eat I am doing pretty well. I don't exercise and I take a vitamin d tablet too because I don't get outside and get no sunlight. So what do you think?

@celticeagle weight gain, feeling lethargic, more moody on it, the swelling is back to where it was before I started taking it. Just feel worse on it. research into this shows many have that issue, it just stops working over time for some

I have learned to take it all in stride. I vent on here and, no I don't complain, I ask for advise or for acknowledgement I guess. I feel partly responsible for what my daugher and her kids have going on. My family is most important to me. Are you a Scorpio? I am. I think it is wonderful the way you take care of yourself and how clear minded and healthy you are for 89 years of age. Go girl!

@celticeagle Its helped me a lot.. I was once sick in bed and doctors told me I will always have to remain that way.. but my change of food and exercise among other things.. restored life in its fullness back to me.

I think that you should live life to the fullest. We all have some kind of issues, physical or otherwise and my goal is to be happy. I'm overweight, I know it, but I'm not worrying about it - at my last checkup all my levels are at or just below normal...no issues....so I'll eat what I like and like what I do.

@AbbyGreenhill ....And that you should. I wish I had done some things differently. Had to keep taking money out of saving to get out of bad situations and now I have no savings.

You want an honest opinion? I don't think you are doing well at all - all those ailments, both physical and mental must be terrible to deal with. I feel for you.

Yes you can live w/o a gallbladder - many people do - my mother lived many years w/o one. In vertebrates the gallbladder (also gall bladder, biliary vesicle or cholecyst) is a small organ where bile (a fluid produced by the liver) is stored and concentrated before it is released into the small intestine. Humans can live without a gallbladder. The surgical removal of the gallbladder is called a cholecystectomy.

@AbbyGreenhill Just asking because a friend of mine has gall stones and she does not want to remove a organ that she says the body needs.I guess I should look up information for her and print it off. she does not have a computer.
