the cat chronicles

In kittenhood Qyzen Qat was a bit of a player. Whereas Dora Cat would catch and eat, Qyzen would catch and play. There were many times where we had to rescue field mice and shrews from his devilish clutches and release them - traumatised - back into the wild. Eventually he got bored with visiting the fields, or he got fed up with us taking his live toys away from him. Whichever the reason, we haven't had the pleasure of saving tiny wild creatures for a couple of years. Qyzen was out all night, enjoying the coolness of the air and fog. I let him in, he munched hungrily at his breakfast and then when straight back to the front door. Let me out! he begged. I opened the door and he poked his head out, followed by his body, and then he promptly turned and came back in. A bit odd, but who am I to know what goes on in a cat's head. I put some rubbish out, and came back in. Qyzen tapped his paw on the floor, gazing at me with his beautiful green eyes. I have a new toy, he purred delightedly. Indeed he did. It was dead. It's now in the wheelie bin ready to depart for Compost Heaven later today. I left Qyzen outside the front door looking for his new toy. He knows he left it there earlier, but he can't fathom where it's disappeared to. There is something decidedly cute about a perplexed cat.

oh dear, sounds like the cat here. she's fere'er tryin' to sneak wee critters indoors. i do 've to say that since the neighbors pup came to live'n the backyard 'n she's confined to the front, such's not occurred. a lil reprieve fer me, no doubt a sigh 'f relief from the wee ones but a most unhappy cat.

@Poppylicious i know :( t'was jest to've been a temporary arrangement. sadly the neighbor aint doin' well 'n the pup'll be here 'til he passes 'f ol' age. her daughter suggested jest to've him put down coz they (the daughter) doesn't wish him't their home. none 'f her other young'uns can take him neither. so, i'm a meanie, but then not? 'tis a really screwed 'p situation.

They are so proud when the bring in their preys. I know that they consider they are bringing a "gift" for us, but I really do not appreciate and I try every time to save the poor little victims.

Lolz, no! He'd caught it during the night and hidden it just outside the front door!
