Photo taken by me – The Lancaster Canal in Preston
Preston, England
September 17, 2016 4:10pm CST
Running low on funds so not going out much at present. I stayed in tidying the flat all morning, and job searching. I got a letter from the taxman asking about my new address. It will be annoying to complete but it should actually save me some money in council taxes. One job interview I have next week led me to take a bus ride to locate the college used for the interview, though the work is for hospital porters. I am worried the hours of work may make getting to and from my shifts impossible though. As it was a lovely afternoon, I decided to walk up a stretch of the canal towpath of the Lancaster Canal which runs through Preston. I walked about two miles alongside some very nice wooded parklands and fishing pools that were clearly popular with families, dog walkers and joggers as well as fishermen. I returned to the flat and caught up on some laundry and writing. Arthur Chappell

Glad you had a nice saturday and got some walking in. Good luck on your interview and hope they can work around your hours if you get the job so you can get to and from work.

well if you cant get there because of transport, they dont require you take the job right? Just that you apply to the point you cannot keep going?

It is rather beautiful, but the water in the river seems a little dirty.

I found the canal systems in England and Ireland very interesting - and I loved the locks.

@JudyEv the canal I walked along has very few locks as it is on quite flat terrain throughout
