Liquid Gold fell from the sky

United States

God is nice but something else actually fell from the sky yesterday - rain, glorious rain. It started out mid-morning as light drizzle and we were rather disappointed. However, all that changed in the afternoon. When the satellite went out we knew the rain was coming and it came down hard. We had a few lengthy downpours. When it was all said and done we had 2 1/2 inches of rain, glorious rain. No, it won't end the deficit as we are way below normal. No, it is too late for farmers. But yes, it will make a difference in the grass that was starting to crunch below our feet. The air smelled so good while it was raining. Today the sun will come out but the rain will be the topic of conversation. Photo is mine. You can see the mud running down the hill, which happens every time it rains hard.

Last Friday they had announced rain, heavy rain, from 3 pm until night. We rushed out at 1 pm to shop for grocery... I came home and I even had to throw my shoes, just to have walked the small distance from the supermarket to the parked car.

The rain is a necessity - with fire season starting next month.

We got rain over the weekend also even if it didn't last a long time. We could use a good steady rain though but i doubt that will happen anytime soon. Glad you got rain and are happy with it.

Since we are bone dry at -thirteen inches of rain for the year and this is only the second decent rain we got since last March - we're happy but not overjoyed...we need more, so much more. But this week looks dry as a bone.

I am glad you got some much needed rain. We got some yesterday too which really helped the greenery around here since it has been so dry lately.

That is a goodly amount of rain and should make a big difference to the grass at least.

You changed your photo - yes, and my husband ran out before the rain to put fertilizer down so the grass should take off once we get a few days of sun.
