walking towards something and nothing

He's a doddery old man, plodding along somewhat slowly, stopping every once in a while to gaze in wonder at the world around him. I have to shake him to awaken him.
Wake up, old fool! I howl, frustrated by his ineptitude and unwillingness to do what he should be doing. It makes no difference. He may decide to have a speedy spurt, but this wears him out and again he needs to take a break, or two. Or three. He has a current tendency to overheat, even though I certainly don't smother him in blankets, and he rarely wears more than one layer of outer clothing.
He became a part of my life two years ago this month; younger and more sprightly, I was attracted by his knowledge and love of the world. We spend nearly every waking moment together and there are many occasions where I have fallen asleep hugging him tightly.
And soon I must let him go. Our relationship is being spoilt by his dodderiness and his lack of speediness. He frustrates me, hurts me, makes me want to cry. There is no way to change the way I feel and so I must let him go to frolic in pastures new.
He will be replaced; indeed, his replacement will arrive at the weekend, following a long and arduous journey. Oh Tablet, you have been a joy to work with, but part company we really must.

Husband is going to reset him and use him for browsing in front of the telly. He'll probably behave really well!

@poppylicious Whatever you do, don't give such things names or you'll never get rid of them.
