My Internet Connection Needs Fixing and I'm at a Loss.

I don't know what time our power came back on yesterday because I was at work, but it was working fine last night. When I got up this morning it wasn't working at all. I tried to reboot my router and modem, but didn't have much luck. Then I had to go clean a few window jobs.
When I returned I tried to work on the connection again. Finally, I got the router's light to be on and the color that shows it's working fine, but I still didn't have the internet. I then went to work at my retail job.
I told my husband of the problem, but he said it was working fine for him once he went home. But, it's not working for me, or wasn't until I hooked the modem directly into my computer. It's not the best for my modem is currently swinging inn the air as the line is too short. It looks like either I will be connected, or my family, but not both of us at the same time.
After our jobs tomorrow, I'll probably call our isp and see if they can reconfigure my connection so it works with the wifi for me too.
Any ideas anyone until I can call them later tomorrow afternoon?>

Uhm... yes, I have an idea, but you aren't going to like it, Marsha!
It sounds like your Wi-Fi card burned out in your pc. (If it is working on your husband's pc but isn't working on yours, then that means it probably isn't your internet or your router. That only leaves your pc's connection.
You can pick up a Wi-Fi booster at Walmart for about $25 to $30. It looks like a thumb drive. You just plug it in and it works. (It is actually made for a desktop that needs to be converted to Wi-Fi, but works just fine for your problem, too.)

We got the new router via UPS mid-Friday, but it never worked very long at all. We picked up a newer model modem from our isp and also picked up a router from them too. It is now working fine. I think my pc was okay, but possibly the modem was iffy and certainly the router too, even the newer one we just received on Friday hasn't worked yet. I'm still going to try that one again next week just to be sure.
If I can't get it working, I'll have to send it back to the manufacturer and request a refund. But, I want to make sure first just in case we missed something the first go-round. Plus it seems that I have more experience talking the connection through with our isp than anyone else in my family, so maybe they missed something yesterday when trying to connect it, but I won't know whether that's the case or not until I hook it up myself.

My computer is the main one that supplies wifi to everyone else. Mine will work if I switch the cord from the router to my computer. I think I'll just need to call the ISP to get them to reset the pings etc.

@MarshaMusselman This is weird, I believe that there is something wrong with the router.

My isp person told me I needed to contact the router people and they walked me through resetting the router. Once we did that, it never came back on properly. Now, I am directly connected to my computer, but no one else can be online until we get a new router.
I was going to buy one where I work, for we get a discount. They claim that those products could be too old and there's no tech support, whereas if I buy one from them he gave me a discount and there will be two years support if anything goes wrong again. Since this is the second time we've had a problem recently with the router, I went with that option.
We'll be getting a new one by Friday if all goes well. It's so odd that everything was working fine one day but the next morning it wasn't any longer.

@vandana7 Yes, vanny, I can easily see how pony's "sexy legs" can have such a deleterious effect on Valerie's mentality/judgment in reference to my tech skills.
SMH! You are hilarious!
