I was pulled over by the police yesterday

I was out geocaching yesterday and grumpy about not being able to figure out my new gps easily.
I was heading for home and the whole time reminding myself to go the speed limit.
I came down into the town and must have been in a bit of a fog. This spot is hard as it goes from 55 down to 35 in a short distance and its all down hill.
I saw a cop behind me and thought nothing of it. Went to the stop sign and turned towards home. The sirens went on and I pulled over. I was so embarassed the neighbors seeing me.
He asked for my license and registration and proof of insurance. He asked me where I was headed and I said home.
He went and ran the info and came back and told me I was going 47 which is 12 over the speed limit.
I had sunglasses on so thankfully the cops couldn't see me crying. I didn't want to get out of a ticket I deserved for being a cry baby. I was so disgusted with myself for speeding. I never speed! I usually have cruise control on all the time to ensure I don't.
He told me he was just going to give me a warning and to slow down when I come in to town. I thanked him and told him I never speed so I couldn't even figure out why I was being pulled over until he told me.
He said he's there all the time and has never seen me speeding through there. He was very kind to let me go with just a warning.

I've been caught 3 times in 20 years for speeding and it was all by speed camera.
Now I'm really careful as I have a totally clean licence and want to keep it that way.

@Mike197602 Wow I've only heard of them on stoplights but I've never seen one.

You got lucky. I hate being pulled over. My ex got pulled over for loud music.

Did he just get a warning? It is so embarassing being pulled over. My inspection ran out so I was worried about being pulled over the past few days. It is a month overdue and I just realized it. I have an appointment at the garage to drop it off tonight to be looked over tomorrow.

@shaggin Nope he got a ticket. I agree it is embarassing being pulled over. I hope your inspection of your vehicle goes well.

That's what I like about being caught by a real live officer, they can use their discretion. Last time I was caught speeding it was by a camera, and there's no discretion about them! I was doing 36 in a 30mph zone, and was fined £100, with 3 points on my licence. So you were very lucky.

I've gotten warning in the past. Once was on my birthday at the end 20 miles of the trip, someone was going 45 in a 55 zone, so I passed them (and of course they speed up) and since I usually coast down in speed I went through a trap and was pulled over. I told the officer the things I said and that after 4 hours of driving I was just anxious to get there. My car was fully packed with stuff so it was fairly obvious. He also saw that it was my birthday (I didn't mention it) and decided to go easy on me. I also had a brake light out, which was fine before the trip...
Another time I was going 20 mph over the limit and pulled over when I saw this cop's lights. However, the road was so busy I had to wait five minutes before he even got across traffic. He still gave me a ticket, but only for 5 mph over.

@shaggin It's not luck as much as strategy. I have had them reduce it a lot by being compliant. If you give them trouble they will make your fine what it is because they are annoyed. I make it easy for them by pulling over, giving them all my info without a fuss, and thanking them for doing their jobs by keeping me in line (I hate the money I have to pay but they are keeping the road safer).
I haven't had a ticket in 3 years, but for a while I was traveling a lot, and I wanted to get from point A to B quickly. It was a safety thing if I got away with going too fast...

You are very lucky to get off with a warning. The rarely happens around here. I have only been pulled over once in the 30+ years that I have been driving. I got a ticket. It wasn't even so much the money it was the embarrassed of being pulled over.

Yea the embarassment is terrible but for me the money would have been worse. I buy myself whatever cheap food I can to get me through the day. I never splurge on myself I wear clothes from over 10 years ago. So paying money due to speeding would have really eaten me up.

@shaggin oh I can understand that. I am the same way. It hurt to pay the fine. I had to work almost a whole and then give it away. It hurt.

@shaggin And the fact that you did not have any earlier incidents of speeding helped.

That's good. I am glad the cop was kind. A friend of mine got done in a speed trap at 31mph while other cars sped by. They told her she was the unlucky one!

It's embarrassing when they turn on the siren.I bet you weren't driving dangerously enough to deserve the siren treatment.

You are very lucky. I have had my fair share of speeding tickets, fortunately non recently, and they are quite expensive.
