Trotting over to Blackpool!

Blackpool

Royal Mail arrived from @Asylum ! The weirdest thing to find out about Blackpool is that the speculum city across the Irish Sea, the same meaning is presented just in another language. This is how its name came about: "Blackpool gets its name from a historic drainage channel, possibly Spen Dyke, that ran over a peat bog, discharging discoloured water into the Irish Sea. This formed a black pool . . . . . now on the other side of the sea, "Dublin" (Dubh Linn) is derived from the Irish for "black pool"." Most interesting FACT! It was wonderful to get a beautiful Holiday looking postcard in the post yesterday and I couldnt wait to get it featured today. In order for me to show you its curvy edging (because Barry was getting fed up with sending polygon cards ), I had to place a darker background in my scanner to show it off. I do love my 'scanner' and the great job it does of presenting my postcards like they were brand-new in your own hands. Today there is a fantastic stamp on the reverse side with a mention of "Paternoster Row" - one commemorating the Great Fire of London in 1666 - I shall have to do some research into that name as we have a Paternoster Fishing Village in the Cape as well. Another postcard just arrived, but that will have to wait till tomorrow. I have some more sewing to get to. Its kinda slow here today - or am I imagining it? Keep it real!!

I had actually forgotten that I had sent out a few postcards from Blackpool with unusual shaped sides. These seemed quite original and I could not resist choosing them.

It has seemed a bit slow. Blackpool looks to be such a fun place, I got one of those really busy looking postcards as well, not the same one but you know what I mean.

Every time that I see mentioned the year of the Great Fire of London (1666) I cannot refrain to think that 666 is the number of the beast. It was a very bad year for London.
