From ashes to flowers...a strange funeral, indeed

After reading a post by @xFiacre about strange funerals, it reminded me of my uncle's funeral many years ago. "John" was cremated and the family gathered at my aunt's house for a little ceremony. His daughter spoke about the Great Spirit Father who would guide her Dad into the great unknown, somewhere in the universe. As she was going on with this nonsense, she held the box of her father's remains, gently sifting the ashes through her fingers. As if this weren't weird enough, before she was to scatter his ashes into the nearby creek, she sprinkled some of them into the flower bed. My aunt later said, "I can't sleep here anymore. John's in the flower bed."
