This was the text message of my clinical coordinator last midnight; this concerned about my duty next semester. Later, she called me up to ask me if I should go back on duty this morning; I said I will resume my work next Monday. Then she asked me if a colleague (who has her duty with me in OB ward- the one who is disrespectful) handled students in Medical ward. I replied she has Surgery/Orthopedic and OB wards. Another colleague who trained in Medical ward has duty at ER and OPD already, so nobody will be in Medical ward for level 4 students. Level 4 students have 4 days duty, from Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. I therefore told my CC that I can have my duty at medical ward for the 4 days with just the level 4 students only; unlike now that I have 4 days but with 2 levels to handle. Just one level is good for me. She told me that she has to tell our dean about my suggestion. I hope our dean will approve of that.

Wow you must be tough for teaching more than just one student over there, it's not easy at all to work in that field.

it is actually better to teach 8 students the least, in the area, because they will be competing against each other to improve their skills. teaching just one is not allowed; we have to have half of the group to have our duty in the area.

Good luck with your suggestion, especially if it makes life go smoother.

thank you. when i go to school ion Monday, i will ask our clinical coordinator if my suggestion is approved by the dean. my reason is valid; there is no other CI trained in medical ward except i, colleague CC and colleague RM, who will handle level 4 students in ICU.

That seems like a good idea to only have to deal with one level. I hope it's approved.

handling level 4 students this second semester will give me a lighter workload because i will just be supervising them on ward management and leadership.

Is it harder to handle level 4 students?

no, it will be easier to handle them now. second semester, they have to hone their skills on ward management and leadership, so the clinical instructor will have a lighter workload, i will just be supervising the team leader. a rotation is 4 days, so this will start on Monday and end on Friday, same week.
