Cy Is a Pain in the Butt

I have mentioned a few times that I'm in this abusive relationship with someone named Cy Attica. (Hey, please don't take that seriously!!! It's a joke -- say that fast, it comes out sciatica.) He's cost me four concerts in the last week. Last night I was supposed to go to see Paul Thorn in town, but the pain was just too much. And the other three concerts were all out of town (Nashville, Cincinnati, Chicago), so the drive alone would have been torture. The good news is that I'm feeling a little better. The anti-inflammatory cream seems to be working a little...and, of course, there's lots of sleep thanks to the muscle relaxers. I don't know if they're actually helping but the thing about them is they make you not really care if they're working. Cy is getting on my nerve. He's a real pain in the butt. I start physical therapy for it in a week (on top of PT for my foot), so hopefully I'll be good to go to Chicago for the two concerts I have there later this month. Oh, Cy? I am going to see John Hiatt this week. I don't care how bad you hurt me. Here's a great John Hiatt song about respecting the instruments (I think this was aimed at Garth Brooks):
From the bootleg Hiatt DVD "Dusty Old Tapes". He is with "The Guilty Dogs". This version is not cut off at the end.

Have you ever tried seeing a chiropractor for it? I've done series of injections and therapy for the sciatica pain I've had over the years, but the only thing that really seems to provide lasting relief has been a few chiropractic adjustments. It really is a pain in the butt. I hope that your upcoming therapy session(s) provide some relief from it at the very least.

@FourWalls Ugh, I hate people who think they know better than the patient. Don't blame you for stopping going to that one.

Hope you feel better. There are remedies for sciatica in homeopathy as well. If you trust this form of therapy you could meet an experienced homeopath.

I trust a few homeopathic "recipes", but never my doctor, who is not against it, told me about homeopathy for a sciatica. He sends me to a physiotherapist. I have to investigate this way.

I am once or twice a year victim of the same relationship. Last time it lasted quite a month. I hope for you that the physical therapy will help and that it will have ended for your concerts.

Yep. Actually, it's starting to feel better, and I think that's because my aunt's room in the rehab facility is the furthest from the front entrance, so I have a good walk every time I go see her. The exercise is helping. I know in the past day or so it's hurting differently, and definitely not the way it was (when the pain would shoot down my leg and make me feel like I was going to fall).

Garth is coming here. My girlfriend wants to see him. I have no desire.

I've heard he's a super nice person, but I'm with you. I wouldn't walk from here to my bathroom (about five steps) to see him. I like "Friends in Low Places" okay (it's sort of the country equivalent of "Stairway to Heaven," talk about overplayed!), but I really and truly never saw the attraction.
