The Buried Butterfly - A Poem -
I wanted only to plant some beans,
all hand labor - no machines.
The garden dirt was most compacted,
tough to dig - non-reactive.
But at last I'd dug my rows.
Sure was tired, head to toes.
Then I saw it. Dead's can be
A butterfly, plain to see.
Fuzzy body, fancy wings -
Butterflies are pretty things.
"Pretty Thing, you need a grave,
your beauty I must really save."
The little hole for her was meant
to hold such beauty - in she went.
Then my garden filled with plants,
beans on beans, plus hills of ants.
Behind one anthill, leaves and all,
grew a vine, both green and tall.
It had one flower, mostly red,
"My butterfly." That's what I said.

@ms1864 - Ms Manisha - Although I do not enjoy disagreeing with nice people with whom I may converse, I would assert that, without my little "reading" glasses, I would probably miss seeing far more beauty in this world than I would actually notice.
As to formalities, that "Ms" thing is just one way for me to show my belief that the young ladies around this Mill Otter place deserve the formality that is likely lacking toward them in day-to-day life. (Actually, it is proof that I am a really old goat.) -Gus-

@Hatley - Ms Patsie - Well now, You surely did find "an oldie" post of mine. I kinda liked that one, too. The poem was begun right when I spotted the image in my old image collection, and so I put up a word image of "my" butterfly plant - the one that sprang up almost like the vine in that old tale of "Jack and the Beanstalk."
By the way, I just now finished my supper - leftover baked beans with lots of hamburger mixed in. That's my idea of a great supper. Could have had some pork chops and taters like everyone else, but, no - old Ceerios had to have the "good stuff" instead. Love those beans.
Working on an eBook of pix at the moment. Kind of a mixture of "How to do it stuff" and photos. Probably make an eBook poem collection next, kinda like my first one which was named "101 Dumb Poems." One of my good buddies, Al Kaeppel" illustrated the pages for me. Wish that Al were still hanging around but, when he hit 102 years of age, he said, "enough for me" and then cashed in his chips and went off with his winnings. For the next dumb poem eBook it will have to be pix by me and Pixabay I suppose.
Happy days to you, kid. -Gus-

@responsiveme - Friend ARM - If you think about the many, many years since the time of the very first butterfly, it should not surprise you to believe that there are buried butterflies under every inch of ground on this earth. -Gus-

@Ceerios Sweetpea flowers look like butterflies don't they? Now I'll forever wonder if some of them are buried underneath.
