To the untrained Eye

You might be wondering what my strange photo might be, don't wonder yourself into any form of stress as it just something quite simple. To the untrained eye sand looks like sand, but to a four or five year old boy with ten good old farmyard matchbox cars, it's A Roadwork in progress. I had to especially ask my gardener last week to scarify a small part of my garden just so that my grandsons could conjour up a fantasy farm land to play in. Boys, sand, animals, and cars are a great combination. School holidays - such bliss

When I was a child I had a lot of farm animals and would play at farms all day.

@Fleura my daughters also played with these cars - they remain at my home for all the grandchildren regardless of girl or boy - cars are great toys

This looks like a typical South African road system to me. All that is missing are the Beware of Crocodiles and Caution Camels Crossing signs.

@Inlemay Apart from the areas where toy cars have worn away all the vegetation.

South Africa is far from this barren. Maybe Namibia but SA is generally bushy . . Be it dry bush in some regions and very green on the East side

Smart idea to find some ways to keep kids busy during school holidays. We have a couple of those coming up here. That picture made me wonder. When it was enlarged I could see it fine.

That was the plan. Just sand so that every day he can make new roads

I still have a box full of those little cars from when i was a child. Mrs. WorDazza wanted me to get rid during our recent house move but I refused.

@Inlemay My stuff would be worth a fortune. If I'd left them in the boxes and hadn't played with them!! They're all a bit battered now but it just shows how loved they've been by me, my young cousin and then my own son.

I see it as the boys sees it , a farmyard with matchbox cars . It's so nice of you to give them that to play on . They must be so happy and proud they have you as their grandma .

It reminds me of when our 2 sons were little and loved to play in the sand with their mini cars and trucks.

Imagination is a wonderful thing. It can make raceways in the sand or castle in the air.
