Day 27
Proverbs 10:10
Proverbs 10:10 He that winks with the eye causes sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.
We all know flirtatious people. They wink and flatter until they get what they want, and always what they want causes trouble of some kind. It’s best to ignore people like that instead of giving in to their misguided ways that can only lead us into trouble.
Solomon knew that those who flirted, winked, and flattered, caused untold trouble to the person they intended to victimize. Not only did they cause trouble relationally, but financially as well, bringing about the downfall of anyone who was gullible enough to listen to them. However, there was one kind of person Solomon singled out that was even worse than someone who flattered, and that was the person who boasted about everything they did. Someone who boasts about their endeavors tends to stretch the truth beyond all measure until the truth is nowhere to be found. What a person who does a lot of boasting forgets is that there is always someone who knows the truth and will bring about the destruction of the person who has boasted beyond measure. They are destroyed because once people learn the truth, they will shy away from that person and he or she will have no friends, and no one will want to listen to his or her stories of bravery and daring do.
We know people like that as well. The fishermen’s tale about the big one that got away, the stories about achievements that weren’t truly earned but were gained by trickery and cunning, cheating another person worthier of the achievement out of what truly should have been theirs. They too are shunned by those who know the truth about their actions and once the truth comes out their lives are a byword among all those who know them.
As Christians, we are to live our lives worthy of the calling wherein God called us. We are to do our best not through flirtatious means or flattery that will make us look big in someone else’s eyes. We are to put away the old nature and take on that nature of Christ, letting honesty and truth guide our ways instead of flattery and boasting.
Colossians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. (KJV)
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. (KJV)
When we humble ourselves, living our lives in meekness before men, just as Jesus did, God will lift us up. We don’t need the flattery of the world to make us more than we are. We only need the truth and love of Jesus Christ to guide us in everything we do and we won’t be tempted by the world.
Let’s pray: Father, help me live my life in all meekness and humbleness of spirit, letting your light shine through me so others will know the true joy that comes only from you. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

I really don't like people flirting other people. It's not really good to flirt.
