Are you ready for Nano 2016?

Yes, it's coming around the corner. Time to gear up with outlining, research, character sketching this month for Prep. Last year, I posted the link for Nano. And this year, I'll be doing the same for any new takers.
Like for Camp Nano this past spring, when I wrote Diplomatic Immunity in 10 weeks, I'm going to do it the same way, with a break for over the holidays. Remember I shared the cover story on NBC Nightly News on the Throwaway Project out in Philly this summer? Well, it did inspire me to do a dog rescue romantic thriller for Nano. I'm already have it plotted halfway in my head. Stay tuned for a preview of my story in a week or two.
This past weekend, I emailed my local PD to do a K-9 interview and ride-along for research. I've heard back from my host officer this morning. It would take place on Friday night, right after yoga, since it's right next door to my local gym. It's going to be one long Friday night for sure. That's only part of the research I have to do this month. I'm going to try to attend the Citizens Police Academy, though it started 2 weeks ago, if there's still openings for it? I might email my local police chief and see what he says, in case I don't meet him to do paperwork for my ride-a-long.
As for Off the Grid, which took me 6-8 months to write at 400,000 words for last year's Nano, I'll be hitting edits for that monstrous novel starting next month. I need to cut it down to 3K or split it into books somehow. It's going to be a headache.
Any Nano takers for this year? nanowrimo.org/

Okay, whatever. You can write a new novel with 50K or more in November. Or add 50K or more to a previous novel. There's Nanofimo for December and beyond to finish writing or doing edits. Rebels are for those who do poetry, nonfiction, short stories, etc. My Nano novel from last year took me a long time to write with 2 hours per day. I do stick to 50 K (1667 words per 1.5 hours a day) and then go on to finish.

I thought you were talking about the book by Robin Cook named Nanos. I was getting excited there was a sequel. Drats.

Sorry, nope. I've heard of the book. I referred to National Novel Writing Month (Nano or Nanowrimo for short.)

Sounds like you're in for a busy time- but then Fall always is like that!

@MarymargII Yes it is. I'm a bit nervous on my first ride-along and have a late night dinner at some time. I hope to get a lot out of it for future reference. I'll do a Mylot post on it this weekend.
