Making scents!

I previously made body wash and salt hand scrubs with the lovely-smelling essential oils which turned out well.
I've been gathering supplies to make some perfume using several varieties of essential oils and I made my first batch today. Actually I made two different kinds.
One is made using several essential oils and Jojoba oil. This goes in a roll-on metal tube and is great for carrying in my purse. The other will be in a pretty spray bottle and is made with essential oils and alcohol. (I use Vodka since it's not supposed to smell like alcohol.)
The recipe says to wait at least 48 hours or even a month before using to give the scents a chance to co-mingle. They prefer to be in a dark glass bottle in a dark closet. My grandkids aren't even this peculiar.
I'll let you know if the perfume smells nice enough for me to use or ends up in the trash!

That's so amazing. In the past I watched a movie about perfume and I'd like to make mine. Then I searched the relevant information via the net. And then I knew I needed quite a lot of flowers and then probably I would get a drop of scent. It will cost so much. So I gave it up. I hope you will make a lovely perfume.

@1creekgirl You are quite right! Making a perfume needs to use many kinds of scents. And probably a ton of flowers for it...

Through my research and experimenting, I have discovered it's probably less expensive to buy the perfume! I still want to create a scent that I really like, but to even try to re-create the better perfumes is too costly.

How cool to make your own scents! I'm very fussy about them and I don't like anything that's too flowery or sweet. I hope yours comes out just the way you like it.

I think it's a lot of trial and error. But we'll see! I like the idea of having a personal scent for myself and without chemicals. If they turn out well, I'll make some for Christmas gifts.

You never know with oils. They can be quite contrary.

Oh I think that is fantastic! I have been interested in scents a long time, never dared try it though. Let us know how it turns out

I will. It's a little intimidating at first, but I'll never know if I never try!
