Groupon is a website that offers vouchers at a discounted price to your local businesses and services.
For example you will see deals like:
- $5 for 2 small yogurts
- $12 for $20 worth of food
- $25 for $50 worth of 2-hour kayaking
A few weeks ago, I received an email for $10 off any voucher. I browsed through food spots within my county and found $11 for $20 worth of food (a healthy grilled/organic spot)
I ended up paying only $1 after the coupon so it's worth a shot right?
Yesterday, my boyfriend and I was in that area so we stopped by. I was familiar with the store but never purchased anything. When I approached the cashier - I told her I was new and had a groupon to redeem. She was very nice and explained the menu, recommendations and overall very helpful!
We ordered a bowl of half brown rice/white rice and grilled angus beef. Side of grilled chicken and side of grilled angus beef to bring home and eat since we had rice at home already.
Then, I only reached $17 and the voucher is for $20. So she said I had to use the entire voucher and offered me to get a drink or another meal. We got a Zico bottled coconut water and ended up getting a free meal! I tipped in the jar for great customer service.
I would definitely purchase from Groupon again, but be sure to read all fine prints when purchasing! For instance photo deals are great but shipping isn't included, so you would want to check out the website for shipping costs.
Have you ever used Groupon? How was your experience?

I love Groupon, and use it all the time! My favorite so far was a swim with the manatees experience in Crystal River, Florida. It was half price with Groupon. I got to see and touch and swim with hundreds of manatees at an amazing spring called Three Sisters. Sadly, the state recently closed off Three Sisters to the public, because so many manatees congregate there during the winter, so I was very lucky to get to go when the public could still access the springs!

@moffittjc That is so fun! I want to do that but my boyfriend can't swim!
who can't swim living in Southern California right?! I told him he can swim with a life jacket on. I am not a great swimmer but we can float but for my life I can sure swim!

Since the majority of restaurants around here don't use that service, I have only used it once. I would only use this for restaurants.

Not surprised, hehe! Are most of the restaurants by you like small mom/pop restaurants?

@infatuatedbby No - we don't even have that LOL. But the one we did get was for a small place in town...so little guys do use them also.

Group on is good.
I got a meal deal at a fancy steakhouse and took the guys from work out as a wee thank you for all their hard work over the last year.
Was the beef you had real Aberdeen Angus.
Its the best in the world.

That's awesome Groupon is available in your country too! And you were able to use the voucher deal for a fancy steakhouse, I bet they were all happy including you!
As far as beef, I'm not sure except it's called Angus beef. lol. If Aberdeen is expensive Angus beef ... for the price, probably not!

Aye. We get groupon here and everyone was really happy.
Aberdeen Angus beef is famous the whole world over and is expensive.
We live in Aberdeen and we pay through the nose for it.
I don't buy it unless its at the expiry date and 90 % off

It's offered in some countries. It's a good way to save some money and get to dine or try out new things you wouldn't normally do!
