Sleep Number Bed Arrives Today

Our current king size mattress is less than four years old. A few weeks ago my husband told me his back hurts bad when he gets up in the morning and he thought it was due to the (soft) mattress.
I told him he has slept on it almost four years to which he said, "And it's bothered me since night one but has gotten much worse." Seeing how he walks in the morning I had to agree he must have been in pain. What to do, what to do?
I had done research on the Sleep Number bed back then and really didn't want to spend that kind of money and still didn't want to. Our guest room has a much firmer mattress and he slept in there a few nights and his back was fine in the morning. OK, test complete - he needs a firmer mattress.
Since I like a softer mattress and he obviously needs a harder one, the Sleep Number bed seemed to be the answer. More research and help from people who own this bed pushed me in that direction. I spent time online reading all I could and deciding which options we needed and which we could live without.
A phone call to a representative at Sleep Number, who was very helpful, sealed the deal. We could have the bed delivered and we would have to put it together for a delivery fee. But, after serious consideration we opted to go with having it delivered and set up. Sure, it cost more, but it could be a marriage-saver, we aren't young remember.
The bed and the set-up guy is to be here sometime between 11:30 am and 3:30 pm. I bought new sheets, I have my mattress pad cover in the washer and we're ready for the Sleep Number bed to arrive. They would take the old one away but we will try to sell it at the upcoming yard sale. If it doesn't sell we'll donate it.
I sure hope after all this that it makes a difference for my husband's back issues.
Photo is mine.

@AbbyGreenhill We have another problem, my husband always feels cold, I do not, so it is the battle about how much warm the duvet should be. I have found one that is split in two. One side a warmer that the other. I think that this could be the solution.

@LadyDuck My husband is always cold and I"m always warm. Guess who looses - not me....I just tell him it's better to sleep cool than hot. He gives in to me so I don't have to worry. He calls me his 'bed warmer'.
How does one side stay cooler? Less fill?

We paid a lot for the current one, unfortunately his body didn't like it. We have one hundred nights to try it and can return it if we don't like it.

@AbbyGreenhill That's wonderful that you can trial it for a while. The ideal situation.

I hope it will be good now for your husband's back . Maybe you can update us about his back's reaction when he finally gets to sleep on it when it arrives .

I liked the one we had, but it wasn't good for him.....so I have my side set similar to the old bed and its is working for both of us.

So far for me it's not much different. I need to lower my number more to make bed softer.

As I mentioned to you on Facebook, my sister used one when she was a guest somewhere and thought it was great. They are pricey, but it might be you will find this is worth the money.
