Matthew Left Us

Fortunately, Matthew was nice to us. After he left us we were left with a little debris and a couple of smaller limbs down but no damage. It didn't do what we thought it might do.
The damage it caused others on the coast is another thing. I ask everyone to keep these people who have lost their homes in their thoughts and prayers.
Haiti, the hardest hit of all. are the ones that need our prayers and help the most. My understanding is that over 900 people lost their life there. The destruction there is unbelievable.
I hope this finds everyone touched by this storm safe.

It's frustrating that time after time we pour aid into Haiti to help those poor people, and nothing ever changes. I'm sure all that money and aid is going to line the pockets of the greedy and rich people, and none of it ever makes it to the poor people who need it.

@HazySue It goes to line the pockets of the crooked rich people who are running these charities and non-profits

@moffittjc it certainly looks that way. I wonder why it is not investigated.

The Carolina's are getting it hard. We vacationed in Beaufort, SC many years, I hope it's still there after today. Glad you are unharmed.

Was your home state in line for the storm too, Susan? I think the Bahamas may have had a hard hit too, but I don't know whether they evacuate from there totally or not when something that large is heading their way. I've never been there, so I don't have any clue of the population or whether there's anywhere for them to go. I knew about Haiti and I used to know someone from the area that went there to live and work after the last major situation years ago.

@HazySue The weather channel has videos of the devastation which hit several states and countries. I've not looked at any but seen the links for them.

@MarshaMusselman I believe that North Carolina was hit pretty hard. I heard that there were 49 lives lost there.

I live in Florida. It was very scary. We were told to evacuate towards the west of the state. We went over to our home in Inverness, Fl where we were safer. Haiti was hit very hard, all that loss of life. I haven't heard much about the Bahamas but I suspect they had a lot of damage.

Mathew left but left so much destruction and especially 900 lives lost as you say! Prayers and blessings for everyone right now!
