Day 33 Proverbs 10:26 Proverbs 10:26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him. People delegate responsibility to others all the time in order to get things done in a more efficient manner. However, we all know there are some people who are untrustworthy, lazy, and do not do what they’ve been assigned to do. Solomon was king over Israel. He employed people in all the various jobs in the kingdom as well as the other ventures he was part of – architecture, irrigation, and horticulture. As such he saw who were dependable and who weren’t and those who weren’t he compared to vinegar and smoke. Both are irritations to the teeth and eyes. As Christians, you need to be dependable in the tasks you’ve been given. You are to prove worthy of the calling God has given you. If you aren’t, you are no better than a sluggard or lazy person and soon no one will ask you to do anything for them. You won’t even be invited to fun events because you are useless to the body of Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: 12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Are you dependable or do you shirk your responsibilities? Let’s pray: Father, help me be a dependable vessel in the body of Christ, counted on to do the work of the ministry when called upon. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 9 October 2016 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
