My new boy toy

As I mentioned in another post, I bought a new boy toy the other day. It's a Fishman Performer acoustic guitar amplifier. It sounds really good with acoustic instruments. A couple of people asked me to post a picture of the amplifier, so here it is, along with my Collings OM-1 guitar, which is the guitar I mostly use for gigs. In another post, I mentioned that the band leader in one of the bands I'm in is holding $900 dollars we made from us. She wants to use it to record a "demo tape." Recently she sent out an email asking what we wanted to do with the money. I was the only one who had the balls to respond: Give the money to the band members, and record our demo tape at Michael's house. He's willing to do a tape for free. Tonight I'm off to practice with the other band. Michael is in both bands. Should I encourage Michael to write her back with a response similar to mine?

Beautiful amp, I also like the guitar. Tell her to give you the money, it's not up to her to decide what to do. AFTER she has given the money, you can decide how to spend it.

@TheHorse Try to convince them, or they will say nothing.

That's how I feel. I just need my band mates to back me up.

I would tell Michael what I told her, and let him use his discretion. Asking him to write can backfire, kinda. We never know...I am just cautious ..

@TheHorse .. Or hesitant. But it requires guts to be honest about issues when others are trying to be shrewd.

@vandana7 I'm not sure what's going on. We have a gig with her tomorrow night. Not sure if anyone will bring up the money she owes us.

I'm sure he agrees with me. I think he's just being lazy.

*Right hand clutching chest over heart!* OMG! That is not the image that came to mind when you say, "Boytoy", pony! You trying to give me a heart attack? Congratulations on getting something you dearly love! Would you be interested in bringing a bit of music with you to the myLot party I just started? Please? Thank you, pony! I promise, only one song and you can call it good... and join the conversation!

@TheHorse That's right, pony, but everyone else on myLot DOES like music! (I would never tell people trying to have fun at a party that they weren't allowed to have music! SMH!)

Heck yes! What does she want to do, go to a pro studio? Oh, that amp looks great and the guitar is too. Have you always played music?

Yes, I started with piano at 5 or 6. I really enjoy playing music. Kind of wish I'd stuck with piano sometimes.

@JamesHxstatic Bill Evans was a stud. A lot of people don't know how much he helped Miles with the sketches for Kind of Blue. My piano idol is Keith Jarrett.

@TheHorse I can imagine you doing some Bill Evans or Duke Ellington piano moves.

Are you sure that it was a boy toy and not a toy boy?

It was fun. We mostly worked on arrangements. Didn't put anything down that will be permanent.

Your amp and guitar is awesome. There is a combined decision need for the spending of the money by the band members. If some one rejects. Give their share.

Split up their share and give it to those who want to be paid for their work? I like that idea!

Yes, I would - especially if you can get a tape done for free.

Everything you've seen was recorded and "produced" (by Vanny and DJ) for free.

I would think the money should go to the band if that's what everyone wants. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt if Michael wrote her the same basic thing, if he doesn't care either way. Especially since he can do a tape for free. Do all the other band members work a 9-5 type job too?
