The sound of the whirring fan
As he gazes upon the moonlit night
Before retiring to bed
Thinking beyond the morning light
Laying the head on the pillow
The wondering mind recalling the billow
Shall the wee hours bring forth rain
Will the rain wash away the pain
Is it really true the feeling of agony
Or is it just really a cry of sympathy
And so the soldier marches on
No longer mindful whether it's dream or reality
