I have to do an internship for my psychology major so I started looking into some place around my home town so I can do it over the summer. The town next to my home town has two children's homes that I have both emailed and been told that they do offer internships and they just need the schools requirements for it. I emailed Dr. Carson, who is the head of the psychology internship program, and he sent me the requirements and answered all of my questions for me.
All I have to do for the requirements is complete at least 80 hours, keep a journal of my experiences, answers 10 questions about the host agency, & have the supervisor at the host agency fill out an evaluation. Once that is all done I just submit it online back to Dr. Carson.
I am excited for this opportunity and experience to help me with getting into grad school and getti g a job in the feild that I want. The only problem is figuring out how to pay for the internship class that I have to be in over the summer. It is $294 per credit hour & the class is 3 credut hours. That adds up to roughy $900 I would have to pay for it. There are three options for doing the internship and this is the cheapest one. The other two would involve going over the full credit hour for a semester & paying close to another $1,000 added onto my titution or stay an extra semester which is also a few thousands dollars extra. The only problem with summer class is there is very very little financial aid help during this time.
I was saving my myLot money & other money making websites money up for other things but now it is all going to save up for my internship this summer. It will all be worth it in the end when I will have the title Dr. attached to my name. :)
