Here We Go Again

Within the last few years, the Colorado Springs area has been subject to two deadly forest fires. Now we potentially have another one in the making. KTTV in Colorado Springs is reporting a fire, which has grown from ten acres to 25 acres at last update. The fire is near Rampart Range Reservoir, near Woodland Park, Colorado. I hope they can contain it before it gets to the reservoir (and people, of course.) You see, Rampart Range Reservoir is my favorite place to mountain bike (the photo is of me riding there.) It's about a 15-mile loop around the reservoir, and is challenging, yet easy enough to take a newbie to. I have had many of my best days on a bike riding there. Undoubtedly, there's better riding out there (I've never been to Moab or Fruita, for instance,) but of all the trails I've ridden, Rampart is my favorite. Obviously, first and foremost, I hope they can get contained quickly, with no fatalities or property damage. But if they can save the reservoir, it would make me very happy.

@teamfreak16 That will be a pity if the fire is not contained and spreads further. The biking trail seems to be rocky and uneven.

Oh, yes. Most mountain bike trails are like that. That's what makes it so much fun!

Usually we get news of US fires over here, but so far, not a peep about this one on the Beeb

I think they have it under control. I'm not even seeing any updates anymore. Thought it was going to be, but glad it wasn't, a rager.

I hope the fire is put out quickly and there is no or at least minimal damage to life and property.

hope they get it contained - the water from the reservoir is likely to be used to help control the fire being such a close source

It's the water supply for Colorado Springs, so I'm not sure if they would use it or not. There are a few lakes in the area, though.

Me too. We don't need another out of control, deadly fire.

Won't the reservoir create a stop at that point?

Waldo Canyon fire actuall jumped the reservoir, believe it or not. I think they have it contained, I'm not even seeing updates on it any more. Glad that they were able to do it quickly.
