Endeavor: The Last Space Shuttle

This weekend, I went to the California Science Center in Los Angeles, along with my husband, one of our daughters, and one of my grandsons. The highlight of our visit was an opportunity to see the last space shuttle ... The Endeavor. The Endeavor was built in order to replace The Challenger, which tragically blew up shortly after take-off, killing the entire crew, including the "teacher in space." After the space shuttle program was ended, the remaining shuttles were sent to various science centers around the U.S. so people could see them up close. When the Endeavor was delivered to Los Angeles five years ago, it arrived on the back of another airplane. Before landing, it flew all over the Los Angeles area. We could see it from the high school where I worked in Irvine. It flew over Disneyland and an elementary school in North Orange County were one of our daughters was working. Then, it flew all over the Los Angeles basin, including over the Hollywood sign. My next few articles will show a few pictures of The Endeavor and its journey to LA. It is amazing to see.

@DianneN - I think most of us remember what we were doing when the Challenger blew up ... but you have an actual event in your life to pair the memory with. It was very exciting to see the Endeavor. I'll put up another post and photo tomorrow.

I thought it was very cool that they gave each one a name as it should be. Yes each had a different journey.

Yes, it was cool that each of the Space Shuttles had its own note. They were used to do so many incredible things.
