Day 49 Proverbs 11:29 Proverbs 11:29 He that troubles his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart. I could ask how many of you know someone in your family who is a troublemaker, but I won’t do that because we all have family members who are difficult in one way or another. No matter how much or how often we try to talk to that person, they will not listen, but keep pressing ahead in their stubborn ways, heedless of the path they are on. Solomon knew firsthand about troublemakers in his family. His half-brother, Amnon, had molested his half-sister, Tamar, and her brother Absalom had killed him, and then tried to usurp the kingdom from his father, David, only to be killed himself. He knew the story of his own parentage, how his father had committed adultery with his mother and had her husband killed, and then married his mother so the baby would be legitimate, only the baby died. Before he came to the throne, his brother, Adonijah also tried to take the throne, even before their father died, so that David had to confirm the throne through Solomon. I’m sure none of you have that kind of family history, but even if you do, there is always hope through prayer that the troublemaker in your family will see how destructive their ways are to the family and change their ways before it is too late. Solomon said those kinds of people would be the servant to the wise of heart or those who walked in the ways of God and did what they could to maintain peace and stability in the home. As Christians, we are to live peaceably with one another, lifting up each other in prayer, and seeking God’s help in bringing our loved ones to salvation, so they would be able to see how their ways have hurt their families. Today is a good day to start praying for your loved ones, if you haven’t done so already, and watch God transform them into a trustworthy person, instead of a foolish one. One who is wise of heart, following after God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. You already know they won’t listen, so start praying and watch God do the work. After all it’s his job to bring people to salvation. Our job is to pray for them. Let’s pray: Father, help me stand in the gap for my loved ones who trouble my family, and are too stubborn to see how destructive they are in what they think and do. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Just now all the difficulties have gone quiet and I am keeping them at bay with prayer. Great devotional.

This is one that I can relate to. I just keep those family members in my prayers.
