Is Dance Moms for Real?

I;m shocked. I like acrobatic dance because Great Grandma could do what those kids on "The Next Step" do. The thing that strikes me with that show is the absence of concerned parents apart from James' Mum and we know the thing is fiction. Do parents never watch their kids dance in Canada?
I love that show. It would be my one reason to return to the BBC. The kids dance so well. There are real people behind the characters and they actually show a good side to the business of dance.
Then the other day someone mentioned this reality show, "Dance Moms." I am shocked. I have been glued to the screen yelling "leave those kids alone." The decorum of Victoria Balderasa outstrips the in your face stuff of Jo Jo whatever it is her surname is.
As for Abby. Please tell me dance studios really have a Miss Kate figure and the whole thing is play acting.
Does it help anyone to have a large woman yelling and insulting kids whether they get paid for it or not and are those Mums ever home to do the housework?
It brings back memories of when I was a skating Mom. We had a few cat fights and dramas there, but at least the teachers treated the children well.
Thank heavens I can only watch short snatches on Youtube or I think by now I would be in a full scale war with that Abby woman over how she treats the kids.
Please someone tell me it is not real. Please someone say it is just the glorified Eastenders of Dance....

Its supposed to be real but I can bet there is some script there. Or Abby would have been slapped by now, or one of those whining mothers.

Well, from what I see they slap each other! It is crazy. I think one did slap Abby and lost the court case against her.

I can't blame you. It is truly odd. Why would anyone want to show themselves having cat fights in a dance studio? It was bad enough for me as a child when my Mum had words with a dinner lady. But to get n TV and show your worst side in front of your kid, scripted or not is truly bizarre and surely the place NOT to send your kid to dance is ALDC or whatever it is called. I would not patronise Candy Apples either.
