Eight Thousand Photos - Wow

When the computer guy was here the other day to transfer everything to my new computer, we hit a time when I could see the graph of things being transferred. He said "this will take some time as there are 8,000 photos transferring" and he was right.
Yes, 8,000 photos and I would say 7,500 of them are of Ruby and the remaining 500 of food LOL. Oh, there might be a dozen or so of my husband too. You know who my 'favorite' is.
I did spend some time this morning deleting some of the many duplicates I have or Ruby. But I can never part with her 'baby pictures'....those are my favorites.
The photo is obviously mine.

I do have a big box (and I mean big) in the basement full of actual photos that I really need to do something with. I think Santa needs to take care of that for me LOL.

This is my last new computer....no more after this one. I use my photos on a daily basis so I like to have them handy. Is that like a little USB thingie? I don't want anything complicated at my age.

@AbbyGreenhill Even if this is your final computer, an external storage still constitutes a level of security. As hora_fugit says, it will also prove to be easy to use.

@AbbyGreenhill That is a start. I know it can get frustrating going through all those photos. That's why I only do a few a day. I will eventually get there.

@inertia4 I also found a few disks I had put away that have who knows how many photos on them LOL. I'm old, I have lots of photos!!!!

My sister must have at least that many of her kids. She rarely takes pictures of anything else.

8.000is a lot, but I have way more than that, on my laptop, I currently have about 43,000 at the last count, then there is my stand alone hard drives with more photos.

I have deleted quit a few and will continue to do so. Many of them were taken for blog articles so I don't need them.

I have one of Ruby but I don't think I could put one with our previous lab, it's been 5 years and I still cry for her. They really touch us don't they.
