Tarantula And Assorted Bugs For Dinner–Yum-yum

There are times when I find I’ve been so busy I haven’t eaten anything all day. Then I find myself in the kitchen telling myself I have to eat something even if it’s wrong. Tarantula and assorted bugs are not the right thing for me to eat. That is way too wrong for me. So why am I even bringing such a thing up? A couple of nights ago I saw on the news where there is a guy in Texas who is cooking and canning tarantulas and other bugs to be sold as food for humans. The news showed a tarantula that looked like it was baked. A big ugly thing. They showed cans about the size of a tuna fish cans labeled with all kinds of bugs. Then they showed the guy eating a bug. I guess they are high in protein. But it’s not my cup of tea. Would you eat a tarantula? Would you eat any type of bug? Have you ever eaten a tarantula or any bugs?

Only if it's roasted ground into flower and used as an ingredient in a product. Like these
The Original Cricket Flour Protein Bar. Gourmet energy bars with cricket flour protein.

My son wants a tarantula - as a pet but not to eat - so we can't eat those. And bugs - nah - I wouldn't eat them unless I had no choice. I just don't know about canned bugs . . . they might be too processed . . . and they better be organic .

@RichardMeister I actually don't mind spiders - as long as they don't jump around. Living is one thing - eating I prefer not to! Wolf spiders are kinda cute - but I don't think I'd want to be surprised by one first thing in the morning like that. The hairy spiders are cute - the sleek ones are the ones that look kinda menacing - hate black widows!!

@much2say Oh, man, can't freak you out when it comes to spiders. I don't mind them if they are outside but in the house and they are toast.

I have no idea where the guy gets his bugs so they may or may not be organic . So will you be comfortable to have a big, black spider living in your house. Oh, got to tell you a story. A woman I worked with told me when she was young her mother had a wolf spider. She woke up one morning and there it sat on her chest staring at her! She said she didn't freak out she just yelled at her mother to come and get it. I'll bet that will help you sleep tight tonight. (Sorry, couldn't help it.)

No way! I do know that in Thailand, scorpions, crickets and some worms are normal food fare. It's practically being sold fried or grilled in every street corner. It's their typical street food.

Glad I don't live in Thailand. I guess if you're brought up easting that sort of thing it not as bad as we think. But no thanks anyway.

@RichardMeister Yeah, what's normal for some will be exotic to others.

Nope no bugs for me. On YouTube you can see a show called Fear Factor which challenges people to do all kinds of things to win money. One of the things usually is eating something really disgusting like bugs or even rotten food.

No! I was just about asleep last night when suddenly something with wings buzzed in my face, making papery noises. I jumped up saying bad things and it was gone and never came back. Creeped me out.
