I think many of us have heard the song YMCA. I have never given a thought to the name, assuming always that the real YMCA commissions the song. That is apparently a very wrong assumption. I just happen to check the origin of the song, and learnt that right after the song was released, YMCA was furious about it, and sued the pop group for copyright infringement. Later on, when the song became very popular, the real YMCA was glad of the free publicity. This just shows how ironical event sometimes turn out.

Very interesting. I never knew that before. That song is still very popular today and the YMCA actually uses it.

YMCA first sued the pop group, got the money, and later on used the song! That is really something!

That is a fun fact. I know when I was a teenager they used to play that song at the roller skating rink.

Interesting that the song is still popular. Sometimes I wonder why the song appeals to people all over the world. Too bad YMCA cannot compete with the motels springing up in so many cities. The number of YMCA hostels decline so much since the debut of this song.

That is interesting how the real YMCA changed their attitude.

After they got the payout from the pop group for infringing their copyright, they became glad that the pop group used YMCA as a song!

My dad used to go to the YMCA back in the 60s long before the gay connotations. We used to tease him about it though.
