Creamy Potatoes

One of my cooking pitfalls is that my mashed potatoes always turn out lumpy. I would appreciate any suggestions you have for making lump free mashed potatoes.

Cook the potatoes until they are almost ready to fall apart when you poke them with a fork. Drain them really well. Mash them well with butter. Then use a mixer and add milk to the consistency that you like.

That's a good suggestion. Maybe I'm not cooking them long enough or should boil them on the stove instead of nuking the in the microwave. Thanks.

@clrumfelt I microwave them when I want to make fried potatoes.
