Day 59
Proverbs 12:9
Proverbs 12:9 He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honors himself, and lacks bread.
What group were you part of in school? Did you hang out with the ‘in’ crowd? Or did you have a small group of friends you did things with and felt those were your valued friends?
Solomon saw two kinds of people, those people didn’t like, yet they had some honor going for them even if they were despised, and those who were arrogant and tried to be something they weren’t.
There’s something to being part of the despised crowd. You might not have a lot of friends, but you can live with yourself. You know your bills are paid, and you have food on the table and a place to live. On the other hand, those who live life beyond their means always wonder where the money is going to come from to support their lifestyle.
Being despised isn’t all bad. Jesus was despised, rejected, and crucified, yet, he is our Savior. His blood frees us from Satan’s chains.
Isaiah 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (KJV)
If you are a Christian, you know what it is to be despised. You won’t go through the same thing Jesus did, by dying on the cross, but the ‘in’ crowd looks down on you and mocks you for your Christian beliefs. You have an inheritance, while the ‘in’ crowd scratches out a living.
Which type of people is better? The ‘in’ crowd might look like they have everything, but they have nothing of value. Being despised and on your way to heaven because you accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord is the better group of people to belong to.
Let’s pray: Father, help me see the difference between those who are despised and those who have everything. Help me place my faith and trust in the One who was despised and rejected, and paid for my salvation with his blood. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

That's great. It's sad there are so many people who ignore it.
