The End Of Daylight Saving Time

Did everyone get their clocks turned back one hour? If not you are going to show up for work and your appointments one hour early. How would you like that? Not much, I’m guessing. There is a push to end daylight saving time all together. A push to stop us from cranking our clocks back and forth. A push to set a time and leave it there. When I was a kid I liked that extra hour of daylight in the summer. But when I started working swing shift that extra daylight didn’t mean much. No matter what time of the year I always got to work while it was still light and aways got off when it was dark. So would you like to see daylight saving eliminated? Why or why not? Here’s some music written by Gordon Lightfoot and covered by everyone from Peter, Paul and Mary to Elvis to Bob Dylan:
This much covered classic was written and first recorded by Gordon Lightfoot in 1964, but not released till 1966. This is Gordon's 1975 re-recording - the or...

I want to stay on DLS all year. Sunset at 4:50 here today. :(

The only problem with that is you're sending your kids off to school in the dark. I read where one person said it would be dark until 8 a.m. where he lives if there was DLS year-round.

@RichardMeister True, in December the sun will rise at 8:44 and set at 4:18. It is dark almost right after school. I would like that hour of daylight after school. Like Saskatchewan

@paigea I have no idea what they do in Canada. Here the kids are usually home by 3:30 at the latest. (I don't have kids but the neighbor's kids are home by that time.)

I always thought daylight savings time was really odd, especially since I am in Arizona and we do not have to deal with it haha

Yes, I knew you in Arizona didn't have to deal with it.

Adjusting to "new time" is difficult twice a year . . . well, it's easier now rather than in spring. I'd just rather have it eliminated so we don't have to adjust our body clocks (I normally wake up at 6am . . . for the past 2 days I've been waking up on the old time at 5am). I can deal with the daylight or darkness - I don't mind that so much.

@RichardMeister That's true too. My stomach feels off too . . . like I'm getting hungry way earlier!

@much2say I have a friend who claims DLS time came about as a way to keep us off balance so we wouldn't keep up with the shenanigans the government is pulling.

I can deal with the daylight or darkness. The thing I don't like about coming off DLS time is feeling I'm running late for everything.

I love Gordon!!!! We have two troublesome bonging though battery operated clocks. Hubby messes with them- he takes the battery out at 9 one night and the next night, sets it back in at our new nine. Otherwise I have to attempt to get the thing to rights by working the mechanism around and around.

Sounds like you need to be on your toes to the time right.

I very much enjoy that extra hour of daylight even though I am retired. When I worked, I found it depressing to find it dark on my home at 5 PM.

I guess that was one advantage of working a swing shift. I knew it would be dark when I got home no matter what time of year it was.
