Soda Tax

Everyone can see California tends to have issues on the ballot that people notice right away and have strong feelings about it one way or another. Berkeley, California already has the sugar tax and now Albany, Oakland and San Francisco are going to have a 1 cent an ounce tax on sugar sweetened beverages. Personally, I don't have a problem with a tax on something that certainly isn't needed to survive.
Philadelphia was the first big city in the United States to start charging the tax. You all can imagine just how much money the soda companies spent fighting to keep this from happening in the United States.
I wanted to find out if other countries have this tax? How many of you would support this as a Prop in your area? We all know to much soda is consumed and I use to drink a lot of it. I lost 15 pounds a few years ago when my doctor told me no more soda, as it was causing health problems.

I think we will see more tax in the future on fast food depends on how much people with money want to get people to avoid those high priced burgers with tons of fat and calories. Clearly, I don't eat them after ending up in the hospital and seeing somebody else there for the same reason and he didn't make it. He was younger than me, so it was a wake up call to make healthy changes. Thanks for posting.
