Lately, I hear a donkey braying. There is nothing quite like that sound. It carries for miles.
I have heard it quite a lot lately. It is getting louder and more often. I don't know if it is sick or hurting. What would make it carry on that way?
I never saw it, but I know it is there. I don't know where to look for it. What would you do if it was in your neighborhood?

I have never a donkey bray except on TV. You would have to follow the sound to track down the source.

@sabtraversa Maybe, he does sound upset. I know the animals don't know anything about it, but it is interesting to think about.

I am so sorry, Jo Ann! I knew I was snoring much louder lately but I never guessed it would be loud enough for you to hear clear down in Florida!
Call the ASPCA in your area, tell them where you live and ask them to do a search for it.

@akalinus Other than it being too far for you to drive, I would tell you to follow the braying until you get here! I'd love to meet you in person, Jo Ann! (grinning at you!)

First, the word "braying". I read it, just now, in your post. It's new & definitely now added to my vocabulary. Thank you.
But, I asked myself: where was I when it was taught by our English Teachers/Instructors/Professors? Hmmm? Maybe I was absent in class (hopefully for a valid reason).
Ha! Ha! Ha!
Re, that donkey. I hope, by this writing, you found it already. If not yet, maybe your local Animals Center could help you locate it. And if it is hurt, be given proper medical attention, ASAP!

I might go walking and try to find it. Most seem to bray occasionally. Maybe it is lonely if it is on its own. I also think sometimes they just bray because they can. Some bray if they see someone they know coming, maybe hoping for something to eat or just to say hello. A bit like a dog wagging its tail I guess.

Are you close to farms? Perhaps a little drive around will find it? Hope you do!

I can't think where the source would be.
