Why Can I not Remember to Use the screenshot function? And What Does a Fractal Look Like?

After trying several times to save my images to a recognizable image format I finally remembered that sometimes I have to use the screenshot keystroke and then save it to paint to get the right extension. I don't understand why I can't remember to do this right away when the program I'm working with isn't self-explanatory.
I've been told that there's a way to save images on the jwildfire software, but as yet it's not working for me. I still have to view a video to see if that helps me out. Toppfer recommended a different download, but I need things spelled out more than that program does. I couldn't figure it out after playing with it for a period of time.
I have two images done different ways in my picture above. The one on the right was done with a picture I took of two paintings I purchased in Guatemala a few years ago. I used the jwildrire transformer filter(?) to get that view which I like. How I uploaded my own image to the grid, I've no idea as I don't seem able to replicate it.
The one on the left is using an image supplied by the program but which I've manipulated and changed the colors to come up with this. Because there's an infinite amount of shapes and designs waiting to be made they do allow sharing on commercial sites. This one is called either a flame or fractal or maybe both.

Yes, I am, can you tell. I'd like to find the way to duplicate the right image using my own photo's but I've not found that filter again as yet.

@responsiveme I used to spend a lot of time reading books too, but since I went full-time three years ago, I found that if I sit and read I dont' do much of anything else. Well, I hate to say it, but I don't do much anyway other than work, mylot and share images online. Lately, I've been mainly working and trying to keep the dishes at bay until we get our pipes replaces and can use our dishwasher again.

Thanks. I knew what I was doing for the one on the right, the other on the left, I'm still learning all the options and whether it's from my manipulation or being done for me. I have a video to watch that will explain it for me, but I've misplaced my headphones.

@just4him I borrowed my husbands to watch last weeks episode of Grey's Anatomy. I should borrow them again to watch the video I mentioned above which I've already forgotten about.

I have seen some very vibrant fractals - I never really alter my photos apart from slight cropping / resising

I've not figured out a way yet to use my own images with the fractal makers. It seems that they begin with several pre-filled measurements and then we can change them by switching dials or they change in a random manner.
