I wish I was having the cinnamon bun shown above for breakfast. Doesn't it look really good? I guess I will have to be happy with my cheese toast and turkey bacon
.
Well, I am finally through with all of the doctor visits and tests except for one. I have to go to Pain Management on Wednesday. It seems that in Kentucky, because of drug addictions, most doctor's offices are not allowed to prescribe pain medication unless there is surgery involved. Instead, patients have to go to Pain Management. I'm not really looking forward to the visit at all but will do what I have to do so that I can keep the pain in my feet under control.
So far all of my tests have come back okay. The blood work that showed abnormal for liver function turns out to be due to my diet and weight which I can take control of that. I do have an endoscopy scheduled for December 15th because I have been having trouble with my stomach and acid reflux. The doctor just wants to make sure nothing is going on.
I'm going to try my best to get back to my normal postings just as soon as I catch up on notifications and comments. I am so far behind that it isn't even funny. So, if you don't see me posting any discussions for a while, you should see me reading and posting comments on your discussions. I guess you could say that I will be in the background for a while.
I forgot to mention about my neuropathy. The podiatrist said that unfortunately, I will more than likely have this for the rest of my life. All they can do is treat the symptoms. I was so emotional when he told me that and broke down in tears. I did receive an injection in my right foot. It's been almost two weeks now and I haven't noticed any difference. He did say that sometimes the injections work and sometimes they don't. They don't know why. I am in a better frame of mind now and have accepted that I will be dealing with this long term. I'm trying to read online everything I can about it and find ways to cope and I am also hoping my visit to Pain Management will help as well.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!

I am hoping that they won't give me any problem prescribing pain medication. I take tramadol which isn't a heavy narcotic. As a matter of fact, a few years ago it wasn't even considered a narcotic. As far as narcotics go, it is very mild but it does help relieve some of my pain. It never takes it away completely but it makes it manageable.

Glad you are back and looking forward to seeing you around more. That cinnamon bun looks VERY good, I haven't had breakfast yet, so after I reply, I am going to get something to eat.
I am so sorry about your foot, I know how upset I was when I was diagnosed with planters, and though I was told it can heal, it won't if I keep overdoing it like I did yesterday.

@simone10 They have numbness in their feet in some cases quite extreme but I have never heard them talk about pain. They just make sure they are careful not to get cuts on the foot since they can't feel it and wear supportive and protective shoes. I am going to see one of my friends today, she is a nurse, I am going to ask her if she has pain. My other girlfriend's mother ended up in a wheelchair in her 80s and my girlfriend is also noticing she has neuropathy. My sister in law has hers as a result of back issues and she seems to drag her feet a bit but never mentions pain either.

@BelleStarr I am hoping that the pain will eventually go away. I can deal with the numbness that I have...just have to be careful walking. I pray that mine doesn't get so bad that I end up in a wheelchair. That really scares me but of course I am thinking the worst right now.

relieved to hear that 'bout'cher liver tests, hon. hopefully the endoscopy'll come back fine 's well, 'r 't least with some feasible answers. 's fer the neuropathy? there's mixed thoughts'n such, i've visited with many, many folks (neurologist, nerve specialists, physical therapists, nutritionists...well, ya get the point) 'n regards to such. lots depends'n the root cause, which many're clueless to. their jest aint that much known 'bout 't. but, i remain hopeful myself. i've noticed that inflammation's got tons to do with 't, fer myself anyhow. i hope that the folks 't the pain management clinic 're able to get'cha'n a good path.
's fer those doc's? them'n the pharmaceutical companies're responsible fer many folks bein' addicted 'n they ought to be 'shamed...but they aint.
sendin' healin' hugs 'n don't fret o'er bein' behind, k?

I agree with you that the doctors just don't know what can cause some neuropathy if you aren't a diabetic. The doctor had no idea about me. I do have a small herniate disk which he said could cause the pain in my feet but don't know for sure. And the herniation is too small to have surgery for so I am kind of stuck at the moment. Right now I am going through a good spell as I am feeling better. My feet are very tender though and it's hard to walk sometimes.

@simone10 i got mine from the cipro - both'n the hands'n feet, which sometimes migrates clear to the bridge 'f my nose. i blame the latter'n inflammation. 'tis sad when ya know more'n yer doc's...
i can empathize with ya'n that foot pain 'n diff'culty walkin', hon. most oft 'f feels like i'm steppin' 'cross rough pebbles barefoot whilst my feet're tightly bound'n saran wrap. other times, they're jest numb/burnin'/hornets stingin'. we've jest gotta keep movin', hon. 'tis our only alternative :(
sendin' healin' hugs 'n thoughts!

@simone10 Some people expect miracles too and I guess miracles can't really be expected. But any improvement would be good. Have you thought of self-hypnosis? That may not take a lot of money or time. It sounds like almost anything would be worth trying.

That seems ridiculous that doctors are not allowed to prescribe anything to alleviate pain - you'd think that they would be able to use their discretion. So sorry that you have to endure the pain, I hope that Pain Management is able to help you.

It sounds to me you are between a rock and a hard place, I hope you continue demanding answers and better doctors. I hope things change for you and soon.
