Day 69 Proverbs 12:26 Proverbs 12:26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbor: but the way of the wicked seduces them. Status quo seems to run the country. Nobody wants to seem out of place. Everyone wants to fit in. The name of the game then is compromise. Compromise must have been in effect during Solomon’s day to have made a statement about righteous people being seduced by wicked people. Solomon was also seduced by his many wives and their religious practices in that he built altars to all of them around the hills of Jerusalem and even worshiped them. As Christians, you are to live your lives above reproach, so that Satan will not be seen in the crevices of your lives. Paul made a case with the Christians in Corinth who also compromised their ways with unbelievers. 2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believes with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. How are you compromising the Word of God? What do you consider ‘Okay’, but under the microscope of God’s Word is clearly not ‘Okay’? If your actions cause another Christian stumble in his walk with the Lord, it’s not ‘okay’. Paul talked about putting stumbling blocks before baby Christians by the food they ate, not that the food was wrong, but the food they were eating had been offered to idols, and to baby Christians, that was a compromise and caused more problems. Romans 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another anymore: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way. 14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteems anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walk thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. 16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of: 17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Compromise is a tightrope walk for Christians. You need to be careful that what you do is above reproach and Satan has not taken an occasion against you compromising your testimony as a Christian. Let’s pray: Father, help me search out every place in my life that could be a stumbling block to other Christians. Help me not compromise my life with things people take for granted today, but are unhealthy in my walk with you. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
